Many things have changed since the days of James Herriot, but the aim of this veterinary practice is to provide a similar high quality, personal, caring service but with the advantages of modern techniques and drugs to help us. We try to provide a high standard of preventative care, principally by providing a routine health check at primary vaccinations and annual booster vaccinations. This is backed up by a full therapeutic service for treatment, if your pet should become ill. We understand how distressed you feel when this happens, and will do everything in our power to help. In some cases, this may involve hospitalising your pet, taking X-rays, sending samples to a laboratory, doing surgery or in some cases, referring your pet to a specialist if this is required.
The practice was started in April 1990 by myself, and the Surgery conversion from a joiner’s work

shop was completed later that year. The practice cares for both companion animals and farm animals and provides a full 24-hour emergency cover service.

The practice work force consists of one Veterinary Surgeon (myself), an animal care assistant, a secretary and a part-time receptionist.

Originally from Glasgow, I qualified in 1983 from the University Veterinary School there. I worked in a country

practice in Cardiganshire , Wales for four years, then I moved to Girvan in 1987, and worked here for three years before setting up my own practice.

I am married with four children and a golden retriever called Cara ( see photo ). In my spare time my interests are playing football, making furniture, reading, gardening, drumming, do-it-yourself and meddling with computers.
